Soyoung Lee, CEO of Saram Entertainment, has been selected as one of ‘The 35 Most Powerful Women in International Television 2023’ by The Hollywood Reporter, a prominent U.S. entertainment media outlet.
The Hollywood Reporter annually selects the most influential non-American female executives and creators working outside the United States to introduce influential figures. This year’s list, titled ‘The 35 Most Powerful Women in International Television,’ features directors, writers, and executives, showcasing the impactful women shaping the global media landscape. The Hollywood Reporter highlighted that women are actively leading the C-suite (top executive level) in some of the world’s most influential media companies, and they hope the success stories of these 35 women will inspire and present a brighter future for the global film, television, and media industries.
The Hollywood Reporter introduced Soyoung Lee as the founder and current CEO of Saram Entertainment, a leading Korean entertainment agency. Lee is credited with discovering some of the most popular young global stars in the Korean industry. The publication noted that under her leadership, Saram Entertainment represents notable talents such as Hoyeon from Netflix’s original series ‘Squid Game,’ Kim Sungkyu from the hit Korean Netflix series ‘Kingdom,’ and Kim Minha from the critically acclaimed Apple TV+ series ‘Pachinko.’
The list also includes other influential women in the global television industry, such as CJ Group Vice Chairwoman Miky Lee, Netflix Asia-Pacific Content Head Minyoung Kim, BBC CCO Charlotte Moore, Netflix UK Content Vice President Anne Mensah, StudioCanal CEO Anna Marsh, Xixi Pictures CEO and founder Yang Xiaopei, The Mediapro Studio CEO Laura Fernández Espeso, Crunchyroll Vice President Emiko Eijima, and ITV CEO Carolyn McCall.
In addition to her role at Saram Entertainment, Soyoung Lee manages a range of talent, including Yeri Han, who won Best Actress at the Golden List Awards for her role in the film ‘MINARI,’ and Park Gyu Young, who is set to appear in the second season of Netflix’s ‘Squid Game.’ She also manages actors Minyeong Choi from Netflix’s ‘XO, Kitty,’ and actresses Inji Jeong and Yuna from Apple TV+’s ‘Pachinko.’ Her management portfolio includes prominent Korean actors such as Gong Myoung, Byun Yohan, Uhm Junghwa, Lee Hanee, Cho Jinwoong, and Choi Sooyoung, making her a key figure in artist branding.
