"8~9년 동안 연기 하면서 악역은 처음...새로운 스펙트럼의 시작인 작품으로 큰 의미"

Actor Gunjoo Jung expressed his feelings about the conclusion of 'Bitter Sweet Hell' through his management company, Saram Entertainment.
In the 11th episode of MBC’s Friday-Saturday drama 'Bitter Sweet Hell' (planned by Kwon Seong-chang, directed by Lee Dong-hyun and Wi Deuk-gyu, written by Nam Ji-yeon, produced by Red Nine Pictures), which aired on the 28th, Moon Tae-oh (played by Gunjoo Jung) was arrested in the ending scene.
On this day, Tae-oh, whose identity was revealed to Young-won (played by Kim Hee-sun), tried to escape but was caught by Jae-jin (played by Kim Nam-hee). To escape, Tae-oh threatened Jae-jin, who is afraid of blood, by cutting his own face with a glass shard. Despite this, Tae-oh was taken by the police and revealed to Young-won the reason for his revenge. In the past, Tae-oh's mother, who was a victim of domestic violence, tried to kill her husband impulsively due to Young-won’s advice. However, she ended up being killed by her husband, who then, in a fit of rage, also killed Tae-oh's younger brother Ji-hwan. Gunjoo Jung’s passionate portrayal of Tae-oh's pain from losing his family instantly moved the viewers.
Ahead of the final episode of 'Bitter Sweet Hell,' Gunjoo Jung shared his thoughts about the project. He said, “I always feel a sense of accomplishment when a project ends. The busy shooting schedule towards the end remains most memorable, and I’m glad we completed it safely.” When asked about the most memorable reaction, he replied, “This was my first time playing a villain in my 8-9 years of acting, so it was also the first time seeing viewers hate my character. It gave me a strange sense of thrill. I’m taking it positively, thinking they hated him because I did a good job.”
Playing the character Moon Tae-oh was a new challenge for Gunjoo Jung, and his affection for the project was evident. He stated, “‘Bitter Sweet Hell’ is significant as it marks the beginning of a new spectrum for me. I feel like I met a character that allowed me to purely connect with the audience through my acting.” He concluded by saying, “Thank you for watching ‘Bitter Sweet Hell.’ Though it wasn’t a light drama, many viewers enjoyed its thrilling aspects, and I’m grateful for that. I will continue to work hard to show various sides of myself in the future.”
