[NEWS] Actress Kim Kumsoon Nominated for Best Actress at the 2024 Buil Film Awards!

Actress Kim Kum Soon has been nominated for the Best Actress award at the 2024 Buil Film Awards.

On the 3rd, her agency, SARAM Entertainment, announced, "Kim Kum Soon has been nominated for Best Actress for her role in the film ‘Jeongsun’."

The Buil Film Awards, established in 1958, is Korea's first film award ceremony and remains the oldest with a long-standing tradition. Kim Kum Soon received her Best Actress nomination for her performance in ‘Jeongsun’.

The film ‘Jeongsun’ tells the story of a woman, Jeongsun (played by Kim Kum Soon), who strives to maintain her true self and move forward despite her shattered life. Kim Kum Soon portrayed the lead character, a middle-aged woman who becomes a victim of digital sex crimes. Her raw, realistic performance, depicting the intense suffering and courageous resilience of a woman facing an unexpected collapse of her daily life, resonated with audiences and critics alike, earning widespread praise.

As a result, ‘Jeongsun’ has garnered immense international recognition, being invited to 19 international film festivals before its official release, including the 23rd Jeonju International Film Festival, 17th Rome International Film Festival, 70th San Sebastián International Film Festival, and 66th London Film Festival, winning 8 awards. Notably, at the 17th Rome International Film Festival, it was the only Korean film selected for the official competition, where Kim Kum Soon won the Best Actress Award, delivering a performance that transcended borders. She also took home the Best Acting Award at the 27th Busan Independent Film Festival.

All eyes are now on Kim Kum Soon as she stands a strong chance of claiming the trophy for her first leading role in a feature film at the 2024 Buil Film Awards.

The 2024 Buil Film Awards will be held on October 3rd at 5 PM at the Grand Ballroom of Signiel Busan in Haeundae, Busan.
