Actress Choi Hee Jin will play the lead role in the upcoming MBC drama Motel California.
On the 29th, Choi Hee Jin's agency Saram Entertainment announced her casting in the drama. Motel California (planned by Jang Jae Hoon, directed by Kim Hyung Min, written by Lee Seo Yoon, produced by HB Entertainment) is a first-love remodeling romance drama set in a rural motel. The story follows a woman who was born and raised in a motel and reunites with her first love, who fled his hometown 12 years ago, leading to a series of emotional complications. Following the casting of Lee Se Young and Na In Woo as Ji Kang Hee and Cheon Yeon Su, Choi Hee Jin’s addition to the lead roles adds to the growing anticipation.
Choi Hee Jin will play Yoon Nan Woo, a veterinarian who genuinely loves and cares for animals. Yoon Nan Woo works as a vet alongside her university senior, Cheon Yeon Su (played by Na In Woo). The character will become embroiled in an unintended scandal with Yeon Su, bringing her own distinct presence to the drama.
Choi Hee Jin has steadily built her career with notable roles in various projects, including the Disney+ original series Royal Loader, dramas Strong Girl Gang Nam-Soon, Behind Your Touch, and films The Girl on a Bulldozer, Good Deal, and Next Door. Notably, in The Impossible Heir, she portrayed the youngest daughter of a chaebol family, Kang Hee Joo, whose character’s rapid emotional shifts, from boldly pursuing someone she liked to spiral into frustration after rejection, left a lasting impression on viewers.
Given her strong performances across various works, expectations are high for Choi Hee Jin’s role in Motel California.
Meanwhile, MBC's new drama Motel California, starring Choi Hee Jin, is set to air in the first half of next year.
