Actress Jung Hoyeon won the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Award at ‘The 2024 Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards’.

‘The 2024 Korea Popular Culture and Arts Award’ was held at the Haeoreum Theater of the National Theater on the 31st. The Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards is the highest government honor in the field of popular culture and arts, aimed at enhancing the social status and creative motivation of cultural artists and recognizing those who have contributed to the development of the popular culture and arts industry.

Jung Hoyeon was selected as the recipient of the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Award and took the stage. She began her speech with a bright smile, saying, "I am very grateful to have been born in such a wonderful generation and to have experienced so many things to be thankful for." She continued, “I believe everything I have enjoyed is thanks to many seniors and those who support me from behind. I am truly grateful, and I want to follow in the footsteps of the respected seniors. I will work hard. Thank you.”

Jung Hoyeon made her acting debut in 2021 with the role of Kang Sae Byeok in the Netflix series Squid Game. Despite being her first acting role, she captivated audiences with her stable acting skills and perfect portrayal of the character, becoming a key figure in the unprecedented global phenomenon. As a result, she became the first Korean and the first non-English-speaking actress to win the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award for Best Actress, and she was also nominated for the Emmy Awards in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category. Furthermore, she became the first Asian actress to cover Vogue US alone, and the first Korean actress to appear solo on the cover of Elle US.

Recently, Jung Hoyeon expanded her career into Hollywood with a role as 'Jisoo,' the assistant of 'Catherine' (played by Cate Blanchett) in the Apple TV+ series Disclaimer. With her dazzling performance at the center of global content, all eyes are on Jung Hoyeon’s future endeavors.
