[NEWS] 'The Road in Between' Jung Gun Joo's Charms
채널A 토일드라마 ‘체크인 한양’ 속 용천루 상속자 ‘천준화’로 상반된 모습 선보일 예정
Actor Jung Gun Joo showcased his diverse charm through 'The Road in Between'.
The fourth short drama of KBS Drama Special 2024, ‘The Road in Between' (directed by Lee Hae Woo, written by Seok Yeon Hwa), was aired on December 3. It is a melodrama about the journey of a man from a road view filming team with a keen sense of direction and a woman bad with directions, who found her father in the road view. In this drama, Jung Gun Joo played the role of Won Seo Hu, a member of the road view production team.
In this episode, Seo Hu's journey of overcoming past pain is portrayed through his interaction with Eun Ha (played by Choi Hee Jin), who is searching for her father in the road view.
Seo Hu draws courage from Eun Ha who bravely sets out to find her missing father, instead of resenting him, by confronting his childhood trauma.
He also realizes that ending a relationship, like the one he had with his girlfriend Se Yeon (played by Hwang Se On), isn't necessarily a bad thing. Eventually, Eun Ha finds her father, and Seo Hu begins to develop feelings for her as he faces her moving forward with courage unlike him. Together, they embark on a journey to complete a heart-shaped map route, signaling the beginning of the relationship and adding a fresh sense of excitement.
Jung Gun Joo delicately portrayed the complex inner world of Seo Hu, a character who overcomes past pain and grows, proving his wide acting range. In a scene where Seo Hu fears separation due to being abandoned by his mother, he evokes a sense of sorrow, but he inspired the viewers as Seo Hu moves forward through his breakup with Se Yeon. Jung Gun Joo added depth to the character’s narrative by portraying Seo Hu's transformation with different expressions and voices, as he becomes more honest with his emotions.
Jung Gun Joo shared his thoughts saying, "The journey over the past month has come to an end. What I will remember the most is how much I communicated with the director from preparation to the final shoot for this project." He added, “Although the runtime is short, our sincerity is in it. I would appreciate it if you continue to show interest in short dramas in the future.”
Meanwhile, Jung Gun Joo will be returning to the screen in the vibrant youth romance historical drama ‘Check-in Hanyang’, the story of Joseon’s largest merchant company, Yongcheollu, and the young people who joined as trainees. He will play Cheon Junhwa, the heir to Yongcheollu with an elegant appearance and a fate always tied to wealth, offering a character quite different from his role in "The Road in Between".
Jung Gun Joo's new drama, Channel A's ‘Check-in Hanyang’, will premiere on Saturday, December 21, at 7:50 PM.
