Channel A's weekend drama Check in Hanyang (written by Park Hyunjin, directed by Myung Hyunwoo, planned by Channel A, produced by WIMAD, Artist Studio, Story Networks, and co-produced by PONY CANYON) has been capturing attention with its unpredictable developments in each episode. Among them, the poignant storyline of Jun-hwa (played by Jung Gunjoo) and Deok-su (played by Kim Jieun) adds to the drama's charm.

From their first encounter, Jun-hwa and Deok-su's relationship was not ordinary. After both joined Yongcheonru and struggled together to become official attendants, their friendship grew stronger. Later, while taking care of Deok-su after an unexpected accident, Jun-hwa was shocked to discover that Deok-su was a woman. As the first among the four to learn Deok-su’s true identity, Jun-hwa was startled by their usual physical closeness and even, while drunk, volunteered to drink in her place to prevent gender exposure.

However, before long, Jun-hwa's feelings for Deok-su began to grow. Unknowingly, Jun-hwa found himself buying the pumpkin candy that Deok-su liked, and when she was slapped by Do-gyeong (played by Kwon Eunbin), he was worried about her swollen face and personally prepared an ice pack for her. Furthermore, showing kindness by preparing a private room for Deok-su, who couldn’t bathe with the other male attendants, brought a smile to viewers' faces.

When Deok-su was in danger, Jun-hwa was the first to step forward. When Myung-ho (played by Lee Howon) tried to scold Deok-su for being a woman, Jun-hwa blocked him and effortlessly restrained his hand, creating exhilaration and excitement. Moreover, when Deok-su was taken to the police station as the suspect in the Seochon murder case, Jun-hwa not only put his entire fortune in a pawn shop but also went to his father, Lord Cheon (played by Kim Uiseong), and knelt, offering himself in exchange. Even when Deok-su declared her intention to open a gambling house despite his friends' opposition, Jun-hwa stayed by her side and quietly supported her. When Deok-su apologized, Jun-hwa, recalling their first meeting, emotionally said, "Aren’t we friends?" and asked to help, promising to share half of the profits. This scene evoked a sense of deep emotion.

However, Jun-hwa's love was far from smooth. He sensed the subtle tension between Deok-su and Lee Eun (played by Bae Inhyuk) and felt jealous of Lee Eun who acted quicker than him, such as rescuing Deoksu from the valley and taking her out of the prison. When Jun-hwa learned that Lee Eun was actually the king's son, Mu-young, he went to his father Lord Cheon, and said, "Please entrust me with the work Deoksu is doing," deciding to become the next Lord to stay close to Deok-su. Jun-hwa then declared to Lee Eun, "Now I have a goal. This time, I won’t let you get ahead. Let’s work hard," raising curiosity about how the dynamic between the three will evolve.

Jung Gunjoo delicately portrayed Jun-hwa's changing feelings for Deok-su, drawing viewers into the story.
