Choi Heejin Draws Attention in ‘Heavenly Ever After’ as Kim Hyeja’s Beloved Cat Reborn as a Human.
In the second episode of JTBC’s weekend drama Heavenly Ever After (directed by Kim Seokyoon, written by Lee Namgyu and Kim Soojin, produced by Studio Phoenix and SLL), which aired on April 20, an intriguing scene unfolded as Haesook (played by Kim Hyeja), who had arrived in heaven, reunited with her beloved cat Sonya (played by Choi Heejin), now in human form.

Sonya, once Haesook’s beloved cat, appeared in heaven in human form. Overjoyed, she lingered near Haesook, but hesitated, fearing Haesook might mistake her for someone who had wronged her in a past life. At last, in front of the wary Haesook, Sonya knocked over a water bottle—a telltale habit from her days as a cat—to reveal her true identity. Recognizing her, Haesook was met with Sonya’s first words: “Why didn’t you recognize me?” But just as their reunion began, Nakjoon (played by Son Sukku) appeared, and Sonya vanished once more.
Choi Heejin masterfully brought to life a uniquely imagined character—a cat turned human—enhancing the depth and charm of the story. With natural feline gestures like knocking over objects or rejecting Haesook’s embrace, she delivered a performance that captured viewers' attention, despite her brief screen time.

With this, actress Choi Heejin once again showcased her broad acting spectrum through Heavenly Ever After, drawing growing attention and anticipation from viewers.
Meanwhile, JTBC’s weekend drama Heavenly Ever After airs every Saturday at 10:40 PM and Sunday at 10:30 PM (KST).
