Choi Sooyoung recently unveiled a pictorial and interview in the June issue of W Korea, captivating attention with her flawless figure and striking presence. Effortlessly pulling off bold outfits—from denim tops and mini skirts to bodysuits—she once again proved herself a true "pictorial master."
In the interview following the shoot, Sooyoung opened up about her current drama Second Shot at Love and the courage it took to take on her first-ever title role.
“There was a part of me that wanted to fully deliver emotion through my performance,” she shared. “While filming Second Shot at Love, I wanted to try acting in a way that allowed people to read my emotions just by looking at my expressions.” She continued, “The kind of acting that keeps people from changing the channel requires adding that one extra facial expression or a little more intensity. So I went into it thinking, ‘Let’s give it everything I’ve got.’ After doing that once, I think my fears have eased a bit.”
When asked about how she approached the character of Han Geumjoo, Choi Sooyoung explained, “Every actor has a different way of connecting with a role, but I usually start by thinking about the character’s profession. Since Geumjoo is an auto mechanic, I imagined her as someone who’s physically active, doesn’t shy away from hard work, and has had a strong competitive spirit since childhood.”
She continued, “Handling machines on a daily basis would make her quite sensitive and meticulous. And having to survive in a male-dominated workplace likely pushed her to become a heavy drinker. She probably couldn’t live without alcohol. Once I envisioned all of that, the character really started to take shape.”
Meanwhile, Second Shot at Love, starring Choi Sooyoung, airs every Monday and Tuesday at 8:50 PM on tvN.
