[NEWS] 'Second Shot at Love' — The Reason Gong Myoung Cut Ties with Choi Sooyoung Revealed: Threats from His Estranged Father!
Gong Myoung Continues to Look Out for Choi Sooyoung

The Reason Gong Myoung’s Cut Ties with Choi Sooyoung in ‘Second Shot at Love’ Has Been Revealed.
In episode 6 of tvN’s Monday-Tuesday drama Second Shot at Love (written by Myeong Soo Hyun, Jeon Ji Hyun / directed by Jang Yu Jeong / planned by Studio Dragon / produced by How Pictures), which aired on the 27th, viewers saw Euijun (played by Gong Myoung) growing even more affectionate toward Geumjoo (played by Choi Sooyoung).
At the end of episode 5, when Geumjoo asked why he had cut ties with her in the past, Euijun confessed, “Because I liked you so much.” He added, “You only saw me as a friend, but I guess I was under the illusion that maybe you felt the same way.” He then made it clear that those feelings were now in the past.

There Was Another Reason Euijun Cut Ties with Geumjoo in the Past.
When Euijun was younger, his estranged father—who had abandoned him—reappeared and used his feelings for Geumjoo to manipulate him. The father threatened that unless Euijun repaid his debts, he would harm Geumjoo. To protect her, Euijun cruelly told Geumjoo, “Just live your own life. Worry about your own problems. Stop meddling in other people’s business.” He walked away coldly, hiding his true intentions, and eventually broke down in tears.
Though he said his feelings were in the past, Euijun continued to care for Geumjoo. He gave her a black box recording that exposed a supervisor who had falsely accused her of being pregnant. He also defended her when a local resident refused to invite her to a wedding because she had called off her engagement, saying, “Don’t hurt Geumjoo over such outdated superstitions.” He supported her emotionally and practically in every way. In a sudden accident while driving, he instinctively shielded Geumjoo before himself, making not only her heart flutter but also those of the viewers. Later, he confided in head nurse Hyemi (played by Bae Hae-sun), saying, “I think I still like her… Geumjoo,” revealing his vulnerable heart and touching viewers once again.

Gong Myoung added to the emotional weight of the drama by portraying Euijun’s despair and regret with heartrending delicacy, as the character hurt Geumjoo under pressure from his father’s sudden threats. Above all, even though he claimed he no longer had feelings for Geumjoo, Euijun continued to look out for her and ultimately admitted he still liked her. Gong Myoung skillfully conveyed the deepening layers of Euijun’s emotions with nuance and restraint, drawing viewers even more deeply into the story and leading the narrative with a flawless performance.
Meanwhile, Second Shot at Love, starring Gong Myoung, airs every Monday and Tuesday at 8:50 p.m. on tvN.
